We are celebrating the life of James (Jim) Milton Cranford Jr. Jim lived a full and blessed life, married to Debbie, raising three children Van, Elise and Olivia while sharing in the joy of five, soon to be six grandchildren. Growing up in Winston-Salem, Jim was passionate about his community and athletics, obtaining the level of Eagle Scout and captained his high school football team. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jim graduated from North Carolina State University and then attended Wake Forest where he obtained his MBA. Jim and Debbie settled in Durham, North Carolina where they raised their family.
He was a lifelong, NC State fan who greatly enjoyed attending hundreds of games with his son Van and many friends. He had successful careers in advertising and clinical research; however, what defined Jim was not his work or titles, but his family, friends and community. Jim can best be described as someone you could meet once and feel like he was your best friend.
Jim left us on January 29, 2025 at the age of 71. He was a man of honor, merit and integrity, and we are all saddened by his passing.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Betty Cranford, and is survived by his wife Debbie, sister Pam (John), children Van, Elise (Chase), Olivia (Matthew), and grandchildren (Coe, Elliott, Oliver, Elle, Murray, and Maxine who will join us in February).
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make all donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
