James Haywood “Dicky” Dixon Jr.

February 4, 1947 — September 25, 2021

Mr. James Haywood Dixon, Jr. “Dicky” (age 74) went to be with our Lord and savior on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. Dicky was born in Durham, North Carolina on February 4, 1947 to James and Marie Dixon.

Dicky had many loves, with God and his family always coming first. Whether he was coaching his kids in basketball or softball, taking the grandkids to the beach or a classic car show or playing cards with his beautiful wife, one thing always remained constant: that infectious smile when Dicky spent time with his family.

His life was as full as any good Conway Twitty song – sharing a ride with Linda in his 1955 Porsche red Ford F-100, enjoying western movies with friends, and spending time with his favorite k9 pal, Bruno.

To meet Dicky once was to love him forever. His many talents were always memorable and filling a room with the sounds of his guitar was one of his many gifts. Dancing, singing and playing the guitar were a few of his favorite ways to bring people together – making sure that no one left a dance floor without a little music and laughter.

Dicky was greeted in Heaven by his parents, James and Marie Dixon; his younger sister, Pam Thompson; and his brother-in-law and friend, Glenn Parrott.

He is celebrated in life by his wife of 55 years, Linda P. Dixon; his son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Mishelle Dixon of Rougemont and their children: Aris and his wife Danielle, Chloe, Shea, Evan and Levi; his daughter and son-in-law Amanda “Mandy” and Paul Walker of Timberlake and their children: Zack, Kassi and Ashlyn.

Dicky was overjoyed to be a great-papa to his great-granddaughter, Ava Jordan Dixon, arriving in February 2022.

Flowers are welcomed and can be sent to Dicky’s wife, Linda, at 2329 Thee Hester Road, Roxboro, NC 27574. Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Carolina.

A private celebration of life will be held with family.
