GRANVILLE CO. James Housea White, 83, of Stem, NC passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016. He was the son of the late Frank King White and Clara Elizabeth White. James was a truck driver for Flav-O-Rich Dairy where he retired. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he served as head Deacon and Trustee, he also served as head Deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church. James was an avid Duke Fan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Marie White; brother, Calvin White; sisters, Vivan Pollard and Ernestine Brandt; grandson, Bruce Ellington, Jr.
James was survived by his wife, C. Mae White of the home; son, Calvin White (Chris High) of Charlotte; daughters, Rose Taylor of Roxboro, Juanita Ellington (Bruce) of Stem; brother, Charles White (Charlotte) of Bertie Co. Roxobel; sisters, Anna Mae Castagna or Rocky Mount; Virginia Jilcott of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, K.J. Ellington, Brian Marsh, Matthew Marsh, Stacey Tapp, Josh Taylor, Niki Taylor; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church, 2509 E. Lyon Station Rd. in Creedmoor. Pastor “KJ” Ellington will officiate. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Marsh, Josh Taylor, Brian Marsh, Jamey Tapp, Jerry Hurt, Robbie Hurt and Barry Watson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
