James “Jay” Hiram Weaver, Jr.

DURHAM- Mr. James “Jay” Hiram Weaver, Jr., 61, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Duke University Hospital.

Mr. Weaver was born on August 29, 1959 to James and Elizabeth Weaver in Durham, NC. Jay loved his country and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Jay retired from Durham County Sherriff’s Department as a detention office and later worked as a Psychiatric Technician at Central Regional Hospital. In the 90’s, he served as a Scout Master of BSA. He was a member of Gorman Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and youth leader. Jay loved riding his motorcycle and was a Patriot Guard Rider. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. Jay was a hardworking, dedicated, and loving man, who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ed Hudson, Jr.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Lisa Meadows Weaver; son, Brandon Wayne Tatum; daughters, Ginny Weaver and Nicole Tatum Shelton (Frank); sisters, Phyllis Matthews (Roger), Melissa Gilbert (Fred), Jymie Ragan (Donald); and grandchildren, Gracyn “Monkey”, Georgia, and Zachary.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Gorman Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are acceptable.
