James L. “J. L.” Weaver

DURHAM Mr. James L. “J.L.” Weaver, 83, of Durham, died on Thursday, January 29, 2015.
Mr. Weaver was born in Harnett County, the son John Guthrie Weaver, Jr. and Elsie Fish Weaver. He served in the U. S. Army in the Medical Corp. during the Korean War. He owned and operated Weaver Painting and Wallpaper, Inc. Mr. Weaver was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church, Young Mens Bible Class and the American Legion Post 416. He enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania, antique hunting, woodworking and eating out with friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Stanley Weaver.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Price Weaver; son, James Larry Weaver and wife, Judy and David Timothy Weaver and wife, Kathy; one brother, Joseph Edward Weaver and two grandchildren, James Linwood Weaver and Allison Renee’ Weaver.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lowes Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Forest Gale and Dr. Gerald Goodwin will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Strickland, Randy Baker, Jim Barringer, Paul Keyes, Tanner Frazier and Mike Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Young Mens Bible Class.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at Lowes Grove Baptist Church and other times at the home.
