James “Jim” Ray Skinner

Mr. James “Jim” Ray Skinner, Retired Sr. MSGT US Air Force, 77, passed away on July 11, 2022.

Jim was born January 21, 1945, in Wilson, NC, a son of the late Wiley Clayton and Doris Mae Brown Skinner. He was a member of Saint Mildred’s Catholic Church in Swansboro, NC for over 20 years. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years in Strategic Air Command, where he flew on B-52’s, as well as served in Guam during the Vietnam Era. He helped with the Sex Offender Data Base and developed software for laptops for the Highway Patrol in California. Jim worked at the NC Department of Insurance as the Head of I.T. for 10 years.

Jim enjoyed fishing and reading. He loved attending yearly family and military reunions. Jim will be remembered as a loving, generous, caring, and family-oriented, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.

Mr. Skinner is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Diane Skinner; daughter, Tracy Condie (Gabriel); brothers, Bobby Skinner (Gwyn Duke) and Doug Skinner (Patricia); sister, Carol Deans (Ronnie); special sister, Sue Sosnowski; aunt, Alma Batts; grandchildren whom he adored, Chandler Condie and Sean Condie; as well as other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2022 at Saint Mildred Catholic Church, 653 Old Hammock Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584.
