DURHAM-James Ervin Turner, 87, formerly of 3017 Coley Rd. died on Monday, November 7, 2011. He lived in Durham since 1946, attended Mt. Herman Baptist Church, member, son of Confederate Veterans. On his 80th birthday he trapped 5 otters in one day. He was the son of the late James Leo Turner and Nellie Tucker Turner. He retired from Eastern Airlines. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Maxine BengeTurner.He is survived by one son, Floyd Pearce (Betty) of Durham; 3 daughters, Sandra Dean (Roger) of Durham; Phyllis Zerkle (Scott) of Southport; Mary Ellen Box (Jerry) of Newport, NC; Jan Harris (deceased) (Henry) of Durham; two brothers, David Turner of Hillsborough, Rex Turner of Hillsborough; three sisters, Eva Sykes of Hillsborough; Mary Shephard of Raleigh; Faye Smith of Hillsborough; and all their families, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at Hudson Funeral Chapel on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Andy Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be, Brian Pearce, Adam Zerkle, Hunter Moss, Nelson Pearce, Tommy Stephenson and John Ferguson, Jr.The family will receive friends at Hudson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. other times at the home of Floyd Pearce, 1407 Carpenter Pond Rd., Raleigh, NC.
