Janet Carroll Pickett

DURHAM- Janet Carroll Melton Pickett, 73, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Hock Family Pavilion.

Mrs. Pickett was born on January 14, 1948 to Garland and Arah Carroll in Johnston County, NC. She was a member of Crescent Baptist Church and worked at Duke University for over 25 years. Janet loved her family and spending time with them. She loved her dogs and enjoyed going to the beach. Janet was passionate and thoughtful about sending special cards to her family and friends with meaningful poems and bible verses. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, April Melton; brothers, Bobby A. Carrol, Lemmie Ross Carroll, and David Garland Carroll; and sister, Sandy Pleasants.

Mrs. Pickett is survived by her husband, Scotty Pickett; brother, Neal Carroll (Steve Vandall) of Henderson, NC; sisters, Carolyn C. Bolton (Cecil) of Durham, NC, Louise Flemming of Creedmoor, NC, and Gerry Taylor of Stem, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Karl Leonard. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
