Janice Carol Carmack passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 70. Born on September 28, 1949 to Clinton (dec.) and Mable Ernestine Cooke at Watts hospital in Durham, NC.
After graduating from Durham High School in 1968, Janice traveled the states, living for a short time in Hawaii where she joined the hippie movement, often referring to herself as a flower child. Upon returning to Durham she worked as a secretary for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She had a passion for gardening and a love for animals.
Janice is survived by husband, Christopher Carmak of Durham, NC; mother Mable “Ernestine” Tew of Smithfield, VA; brother, Donald Cooke of Butner, NC; children: Jason (Julann) Cawley of Seattle, WA and Heather (Jason) Snipes of Smithfield, VA; grandchildren: Cedric (Alanna) Thompson of Collinsville, IL, Corey Thompson of Chula Vista, CA, Jackson, Cameron, and Madison Snipes of Smithfield, VA; and, great-granddaughter Ryleigh Thompson of Collinsville, IL. Janice will be lovingly remembered by all blessed to have known her.
Private family services will be held.
