Jay Santorello

DURHAM- Mr. Jay Gerard Santorello, 59, passed away on, August 15, 2021.

Mr. Santorello was born July 14, 1962 to the late John and Inez Santorello in Smithtown, NY. He was a 1980 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, VT. Jay has been a proud Free Mason for over 25 years. He served as Master of the Lodge in Danville, VT from 1990-1992. Mr. Santorello retired as a Master Plumber, from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Jay was a big sports enthusiast, especially of his favorite teams, the New York Mets, the New York Giants, NASCAR, and any Duke Sport.

His view on life was to stay busy, but to make sure to have fun while doing it. From riding roller coasters, traveling, collecting train sets, and enjoying the ocean, he really enjoyed numerous things. He loved eating good food, as well as cooking Italian cuisine and BBQ. There was nothing better than 80’s music in his eyes. He absolutely loved Christmas and winter time, as it gave him the chance to snowmobile and sled. Jay loved dogs. He adored the companionship of his own dogs and grand dogs.

Jay was funny, hardworking, loving, and dependable. His wife and daughters were his everything and he made sure to tell them every day. He was a great provider for his family and always made sure that they had everything they wanted and needed. Jay had a hard outer shell but, had a very kind and caring interior. He will be remembered as an awesome and amazing father, a wonderful husband, and a great family man. Jay will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kelli Santorello; daughters, Tayler Santorello, Courtney Santorello, and Megan Santorello; sister, Geralyn Belt of Louisa, VA; brothers, John Santorello (Valerie) of Barre, VT, Jeffrey Santorello (Beverly) Centereach, NY, and James Santorello (Karen) of South Burlington, VT; his loving companions, Duke and Hope; grand dogs, Rey, Zoie, Jake, Bells, Luna, Hank, Jaxx, and Sam; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being assisted by Hudson Funeral Home in Durham, NC www.hudsonfuneralhome.com, please refer to their website for updated times and dates.
