Jerry Everette Barbour, a beloved husband, brother, and uncle, passed away on February 1, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina. Born on January 6, 1953, in Wake County. Jerry lived a full life dedicated to his family and community.
Jerry built a notable career in the communications field over many years, demonstrating a hard work ethic that became a hallmark of his character. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he served honorably as a military police officer in the Army, showcasing his commitment to service and duty.
Family was at the heart of Jerry’s existence. He cherished his wife, Deborah Glenn Barbour, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. His siblings—brother Steve Barbour and wife Angela, brother John Barbour, and sister Brenda Smith and husband Hersel—grieved the loss of a steadfast family member who always held them dear. Jerry was a Special Poppy to Cohen Rappleyea, a role he embraced with love and joy, and he leaves behind several other loving nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their time with him.
Those who knew Jerry would agree that he was a good-hearted man, who found immense joy in spending time at the beach and the mountains. He loved being around children, embodying a spirit of kindness and fun that endeared him to many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everette Darrell Barbour and Joyce Weatherspoon Barbour, brothers, Wayne Barbour and Dennis Barbour whose memories will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
The visitation for Jerry will be held on February 8, 2025, at Hudson Funeral Home in Durham, North Carolina, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A time to gather and reflect on the life of a remarkable person will provide those who knew him the opportunity to celebrate his legacy and share their memories.
Jerry Everette Barbour will be deeply missed, but his love and warmth will remain in the lives he touched.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday February 8, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
