Jeter Wheeler

DURHAM-Mr. Jeter Pritchard Wheeler, Jr. 84, of Durham died on Friday, June 29, 2012. Mr. Wheeler was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Geter P. Wheeler and Thelma Andrews Wheeler. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired after 38 years of service from the Airlines, Piedmont-US Air in Customer Service. Mr. Wheeler was a former dedicated member of the Carr UMC, XYZ Senior Citizens, member of Nell Morris Bible Class, former Sunday School Teacher and Coach of Carr’s Youth Athletic teams, also former coach for Little League baseball and basketball for YMCA Leagues. He was a member of Bethany UMC and Harvey Black Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Wheeler. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Stallings Wheeler, two sons, Russell “Rusty” Wheeler of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Michael S. Wheeler (Susan) of Raleigh. Three brothers, Jack Wheeler (Joan) of Durham; Eugene Wheeler (Jean) of Ocala, Fl.; Louis Wheeler (Gail) of Timberlake; one sister, Edna Davis (Glenn) of Durham. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted, but contributions can be made to Bethany UMC, 2809 Guess Rd., Durham, N.C. 27705.
