Durham- Jimmy Beam Hawkins, 76, of Durham passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Carteret General Hospital. He was the son of the late Oscar Lee Hawkins and Annie Belle Hawkins. Jimmy proudly served his country as an Armored Intelligence Specialist with rank of Sergeant in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 7th US Army Jimmy was employed by Flowers Baking Co., Wandel Golterman, Inc. and MedTec. Jimmy loved Harker’s Island and hanging out with friends and fishing but most of all his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jimmy will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Hawkins and Billy Hawkins.Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Hawkins; children, Sherry Hawkins Slaughter, Branden Scott Hawkins and wife Gina; grandchildren, Jenna Slaughter, Branden Hawkins, Jr., Erin Slaughter, Jessica Hawkins and Tristan Hawkins; and numerous other loving family members. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Johnny Hewett will officiate.The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at Hudson Funeral Home.
