Jimmy D. Rich

Jimmy D. Rich, Sr., 87, of Durham, North Carolina peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was born on July 14, 1936 to the late Howard “Bill” Rich and Lois Crabtree Rich.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Gertrude Thompson Rich and sisters, Shirley Johnson, Billie Marie Hart and Yvonne Rich.

Mr. Rich was a lifetime Baptist. He retired from American Tobacco Company as a Forklift Operator. Jimmy loved to garden and watch it grow. He also enjoyed fishing. Jimmy will be remembered not only as a loving family man, but a sweet and mellow man who will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known him.

Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Joyce Beasley (James), Gail Rich-Smith (Don) and Linda Rich Lazenby (Bill); siblings, Sandy Rich, Gloria Avery and Deborah Rich; grandchildren, James Beasley, Jr., Cody D. Rich (Eddy Marie), Brandi L. Beasley and Steven W. Rich (Melanie); 8 great grandchildren and other loving family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
