STEM Mr. Jimmy Ray Yancey, Sr., 72, of Stem, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017.Mr. Yancey was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, the son of the late Dargon Yancey and Hazeline Apple Yancey. He is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1961-1967. Jim was employed with the Stem Police Department for seven years, reserve in Durham Police Department and an NRA Instructor. He was employed by the State of NC Department of Administration as an Electrical Engineer for the past 30 plus years. He is survived by his wife Joyce Browning Yancey; two sons, Jimmy Ray Yancey Jr. and wife Susan of Durham, Jonathon Paul Yancey of Raleigh; daughter, Ann Yancey Bost of Stem; grandchildren, Hailey, Parker and Jackson Yancey, Olivia Snelick Yancey, Ethan and Spencer Bost.Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at South Granville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
