Joan Patsy McKenna

Joan Patsy McKenna, 78, of Franklinton, North Carolina went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born on February 28, 1947, in Wytheville, Virginia to the late William and Blanche Wright.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Wright, Con Wright, Billy Wright and Roger Wright; sisters, Faye Williams and Nancy Hull and grandchildren, Chase Allen and Jordan Allen.

Joan worked for over 10 years in the Dispensary at UNC Dental School, where she enjoyed meeting people and where everyone appreciated her sweet and loving personality. She is a longtime member of Living Waters Christian Community where she enjoyed the Women’s Ministry.

Mrs. McKenna deeply loved her family and especially Jesus Christ. She also liked to go shopping, decorating her home and working in her yard. Most of all she loved being with her family and at church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Steve McKenna; daughters, Christine Avis Allen (Kenneth) and Jodi Lynn Riggs (Nick); sister, Dolly Owens; grandchildren, Amber Allen, Kacy Allen and Jordyn Allen (Dylan); and one great-granddaughter, Josie Shaye.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Living Waters Christian Community, 1104 Lynn Rd., Durham, NC 27703. Sr. Pastor Ron Watts will officiate.
