DURHAM Mr. Joffre Jefferson Bralley, age 94, formerly of Durham, NC, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012 in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born July 13, 1917 in Pulaski, Virginia. He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Alice Quesenberry Bralley. Joffre proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations, participating in the D-Day invasion at Utah Beach and the Battle of the Bulge.Joffre was married to the late Stella Boardwine Bralley, formerly of Lebanon, VA and they made their home in Pulaski, VA before moving to Durham, NC in 1949. Joffre was the owner and proprietor of Bralley’s Radio and TV Service, located on Rigsbee Avenue, until his retirement in 1980. Joffre was a member of Carr United Methodist Church in Durham. In addition to his wife of over 50 years, he was preceded in death by his sister, Inez Fanning, Irene Stallings, Forrest “Tom” Horton and Miriam Campbell.He is survived by his son, John Bralley and wife, Joann and two very special grandchildren, Braxton Jefferson Bralley and wife, Karen, and Noel Joy-Ann Bralley, all of Chesapeake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Edith Boyd and the XYZ Club.A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the Hudson Funeral Chapel in Durham, NC with the Rev. Ed Bogie officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
