John Thomas Johnston

RALEIGH- Mr. John Thomas Johnston, 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Mr. Johnston was born on December 7, 1931 to John and Barbara Johnston in Pittsburgh, PA. John proudly served his country in the United States Army serving two tours in Korea. He enjoyed working in his garden and reading. Mr. Thomas was a very generous man and was always willing to help those in need. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Johnston, and sister, Barbara Landman.

Mr. Johnston is survived by his sons, Marc Johnston (Tammy) and Thomas Johnston (Dana); daughter, Suzanne Sparzak (Keith); grandchildren, Ryan Sparzak, Kristen Batts, Kayla Johnston, Kelsey Johnston, Kelby Johnston, Johnathan Johnston, and Rebecca Armendariz; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Sparzak, Wilhelm Sparzak, and Jameson Crawford; brother, William McClements, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 7:oo p.m. at Iglesia Bautista La Fe (Faith), 4005 Holt School Road, Durham, NC 27704 on Monday, January 4, 2021. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Earl Echols and Keith Sparzak.

Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
