John Phillip Lawton II

DURHAM-  John  Phillip Lawton, II, 72, of  Durham passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was the son of the late John Phillips Lawton Jr.  and Kathleen Louise Bennett Lawton.  He has been a resident of  Durham since 1975. John worked for the Durham Sheriff  Department as a Deputy. He served in the U.S. Air Force. John had an excellent marksmanship, liked to fish and to play pranks.

He is survived by his wife  Sarah Lawton; son, G. Todd Lawton; sisters, Jerie Danford (Eddie) of South Carolina; Sherry Blackenship (Dickie) of Virginia; grandchild, Gregory Allen Wilson and his beloved pet Hailey Grace, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in West Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
