DURHAM John Russell MorrisDURHAM — John Russell Morris, 31, of Durham, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 516 Mt Shepherd Rd, Asheboro. John had been missing from Durham since Friday, 25 May, 2012. John was the victim of a homicide.John has no known family survivors and his death is mourned by his friends, co-workers, and by his cat Figaro.John was a kind and compassionate man, always ready to help someone in need. He was born in Ventura, California on 31 July, 1980 to John L. Morris, deceased, and Pamela M. Morris, deceased. John was educated at St. Augustine Academy, Ventura, Calif., one of the premier Catholic high schools in the nation. John attended Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, Calif. but dropped out before graduating to take full-time employment to support his ailing parents. Following the death of his mother, John and his dying father relocated to Asheboro where his father subsequently passed away. He has been a resident of Durham since 2008. While living in California John worked for the California Institute of Technology, High Performance Computing Project. Here in North Carolina John worked for Lockheed Martin IT services at the RTP facility of the Environmental Protection Agency and he subsequently worked for IBM. At the time of his death John was employed at Cisco Systems, Inc.Those who knew and loved John wish to thank the members of law enforcement, in particular the Durham Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and the Sheriff’s Department of Tazewell County, Va. for their swift and efficient service to the community and for their vigorous work in identifying and arresting the suspects in his homicide. They are a credit to this nation and to the communities they serve.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28. A time of remembrance will take place during the visitation for friends and colleagues to share their fondest memories of John.
