John A. Stanford

DURHAM- Mr. John A. Stanford, 73, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020.
Mr. Stanford was born on March 26, 1946 in Kassel, Germany to John and Helen Stanford. He retired from GTE as an engineer. John was a Duke Blue Devil and Carolina Panthers fan and loved NASCAR racing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Stanford was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Stanford; daughter, Lori Stanford Ferrell; and brother, Richard Stanford. He is survived by his wife, Jan Stanford of Durham, NC; granddaughter, Krista DiPaulo Janechek (John) of Durham, NC; brother, retired Lieutenant Colonel Edward Stanford (Gloria) of Kingsport, TN; sister, Susan Oglesby of Durham, NC; brother-in-law, Stan Quesenberry (Debra) of Patrick Springs, VA; nephew, Daniel; nieces, Shannon, Amy, Erika, Susan, Julia, and Katie.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
