ROUGEMONT Mr. Joseph “Bobby” Medlin, Sr., 78, of 181 Medlin Mountain Road, died on Sunday May 27, 2012.Mr. Medlin was born in Franklin County to the late Garvin James Medlin and Neva Pearce Medlin. He had been a resident of the Moriah community for 30 years, where he was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. He was a self-employed diesel mechanic that loved NASCAR, Duke Basketball and fishing. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Donald Spence and a daughter-in-law, Karen Medlin.He is survived by his wife of 62 years Vera Medlin; three sons, Joe Medlin and wife, Lynne of Rougemont, Bobby Medlin, Jr. of Durham and Jerry Michael Medlin, Sr. of Rougemont; one daughter, Linda Medlin Spence of Efland; three brothers, G. C. Medlin of Raleigh, Don Medlin of Garner and Staley Medlin of Zebulon; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Brian Hager. Pallbearers will be Roger Medlin, Gerald Medlin, Mike Medlin, Zachary Ikner, Justin Medlin and Jimmy Riley and Chris Riley.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 181 Medlin Mountain Road. Flowers are acceptable.The family would like to give a special thanks to Durham Regional Hospital and the Hock Family Pavilion for the care given to Bobby during his illness.
