Joseph Travis Clifton

DURHAM- Mr. Joseph Travis Clifton, 82, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center.
Mr. Clifton was born January 21, 1935 in Durham, NC. He was a lifelong resident of Durham and educated through the Durham schools. Mr. Clifton worked as a master electrician before becoming a Physical Plant Supervisor at the School of Math and Science where he retired in 1998. Mr. Clifton was also an automotive enthusiast.
Mr. Clifton is preceded in death by his parents Willie M. Clifton and Nanny; brothers, Leon, Thomas, and Willie Clifton; sisters, Louise Dillard, Cindy Byrd, Nan Holder, Sarah Kent, and Elizabeth Moss.
Mr. Clifton is survived by his son, Neil Clifton (Wanda); daughter, Karen Funk (Henry); grandchildren, Shaun Clifton, Danielle Funk, and Andrew Funk; great-grandson, David Funk, and other loving family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 3, 2017 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Johnny Hewett.
