Joyce Chisenhall Hart

Mrs. Joyce Chisenhall Hart (Clayton), 78, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 19, 2023, in her home. 

Joyce was born July 30, 1944, to Melvin and Sarah Clayton (McDowell) in Durham NC.  Joyce graduated from Southern High School and went to work for the University of North Carolina as a Purchasing Agent where she retired.  Joyce loved life and embraced every minute of it.  Other than the love she had deeply for her family, music was her second love.  You could find her singing at the American Legion in Schley on Thursday nights, at a senior center in Clarksville, VA on Friday nights, the Ridgeway Opry House on Saturday nights and then at Bible Believers Full Gospel Church on Sunday morning.  No matter where she was – she was always Center Stage and was the light of any room.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Clayton Smith (Jimmy) and brother Randy Clayton.

Joyce is survived by her husband Willard Hart; her daughter, Traci Chisenhall Scoggins (Michelle); her son, Scott Chisenhall; step children, Pam Hart Wilson (Craig), Billy Hart and Susan Hart Short (Paul); her niece, Debi Smith (Lori) and her grandchildren, Ashlyn Scoggins (Michael), Hunter McAlexander, Grayson McAlexander, Cameron Chisenhall, Brittany Burgess, Matthew O’Geary, Stephen Wilson, Haley Clark, Megan Grainger, and Jamie Hartsfield; and many cousins that she grew up with that she was closer to like brothers/sisters.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Hunter McAlexander, Grayson McAlexander, Michael Alvarez, John Mulder, Stephen Wilson, and Tracy Whitman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12pm – 2pm. Officiating will be Pastor David Hunt. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Joyce’s family welcomes family/friends to her daughter’s home after the services (304 Greenwood Dr., Durham NC  27704)
