DURHAM Mrs. Joyce Kelly Warren, 90, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on the morning of May 17, 2016.
Mrs. Warren was born in Durham on April 27th, 1926, the daughter of the late Ernest Royal Kelly and Gladys Green Kelly. She graduated from Durham High School and worked for 20 years at BC Remedy Company and brought four beautiful children in the world. She was a member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church. Joyce had a love for singing along to great music, eating good food, reading biographies of US Presidents and enjoying her garden and relaxing in the sunshine on the North Carolina beaches. Her unique blend of open compassion and run away laughter still puts a grin on every face. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Warren; daughter, Lisa Gail Warren; brothers, Clyde Kelly, Buddy Kelly, Bruce Kelly, Jack Kelly and Frank Kelly and sister, Edna Kelly Wheeley.
She is survived by her two sons, Jack Warren Jr. and Judy Neal, Mark Warren and wife Jane; daughter, Debra Areford and husband Skip; grandchildren, Kevin Warren, Michael Ladd and wife Lynn, Shelby Ladd, Ella and Hattie Warren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Phil Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Kelly, Matt Walters, Mike Ladd, Kevin Warren, Skip Areford and Doug Schreyack.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Debra Areford.
