Joyce Parnell Wagner

Mrs. Joyce Parnell Wagner, 80, of Durham, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at Duke Regional Hospital. She was born March 8, 1942, in Durham to the late Lee Vance Pollard and Bertha Ellis Pollard Jacobs.

Joyce was an Assistant Teacher in the Durham Public School System for over 32 years. She was member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church for many years where she sang in the Joyful Noise Choir. She was also a member of Hillsborough Women of the Moose. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by the father of her children, James Parnell and a brother, Gerald Pollard.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Clyde Wagner; sons; Timothy Wade Parnell of Roxboro, NC and Jeffrey Wayne "Jeff" Parnell and wife Cathy of Creedmoor, NC; daughter, Karen Parnell Drake and husband William of Creedmoor, NC; brother Ray Ellis (Annie) of Bahama, NC; grandchildren, John Wayne Wilson, Jr., Jessica Lynn Goins, Michael John Simpson and Jaden Wayne Parnell.

Serving as Pallbearers will be William Drake, Mike Pollard, Kevin Annis, David Appel, Mark Tilley, Johnny George, and Danny Mayton.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2022, at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Clarence Parrish will be officiating.

Interment will be at Riverview United Methodist Church on Orange Factory Road in Bahama, NC.
