DURHAM Mrs. Judy Vancial Gosney Oakley, 73, of Durham, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.Mrs. Oakley was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Louis Milton Gosney and Myrtle Rigsbee Gosney. She retired after over 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Letter Carrier. She was a member of the Leesville Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Women’s Bible Study at Providence Baptist Church, former member of Oak Grove Ruritan Club and was a “collector of antiques”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Oakley.She is survived by her three sons, Jeff Oakley of Apex, Rodney Oakley of Durham and Shane Oakley and wife, Cheryl of Stedman; two sisters, Lois Melton and husband, Larry of Hillsborough, Dolly Gwen Perry and husband, Rod of Efland; five grandchildren; Brad Oakley (Anne) of Holly Springs, Heather Oakley of Selma, Brooke Storer (Timothy) of Durham, Shayna Oakley and Hannah Oakley both of Stedman; great-granddaughter, Alexys Oakley and step great-granddaughter, Madison Rhue.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dr. James L. Jackson. Burial will be in the Hopson Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Linnie Oakley Jr., Joe Watson, Barry Oakley, Mike Young, Pete Keeton and Rod Perry.The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
