DURHAM- Judy “Nannie” Knott, 74, of Durham passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late William Lawrence Rigsbee and Audrey Carpenter Rigsbee. Judy opened her home to many friends and family. Judy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, nannie, mother-in-law and will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known her. She loved gatherings with family. Judy worked as a Sr. Deputy Clerk for County Court House. She was a member of Shady Grove FWB. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years John Knott, son Merle Knott and sister Linda Mitchell.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Knott; daughters, Jill Rhew and husband Mike and Jan Patrick; daughter-in-law, Dina Knott; grandchildren, Allison Hobbs and husband Gene, Joshua Knott, Justin Rhew, Jonathan Rhew and Jacob Patrick; great-grandchildren, Tucker Milligan, Landon Milligan, Camden Geddings, nephew, Wesley Davis; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Tim McCreight will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Josh Knott, Justin Rhew, Jonathan Rhew, Jacob Patrick, Wesley Davis, Talmadge Woods, Greg Ayscue, and Larry Rhew. Honorary pallbearers will be Shady Grove Sunday School Class, Earl Woods, John Tuck, Dean Haughland, Buster Ray, Bobby Oaks, Ashley Woods, Ron Kirby and Pat Stanley.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, other times at Judy’s home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to Shady Grove FWB Church, 3805 Carpenter Pond Rd., Durham, NC 27703 or Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27704.
