Larry C. Basden

Larry C. Basden, 77, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  He was born October 12, 1946, in Durham, NC to the late Lacy and Annie Basden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalyn “Linda” Basden and his daughter, Wendy Basden Rigsbee. 

Mr. Basden attended Lowes Grove School and Southern High School where he was a member of the FFA.   Larry worked for over 30 years for the city of Durham as an Electrical Supervisor until his retirement.

Larry always enjoyed going fishing, playing golf and especially riding around town and the countryside with his brothers. When around children he loved to use funny voices to make them smile. Mr. Basden was a very caring and patient man who was also looked to by many as a problem solver, being called upon to fix many things.   Larry will be remembered as a family-oriented man, who was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and best friends with his siblings.

Mr. Basden is survived by his brothers, Wayne Basden and Dale Basden; sister, Amy Basden Brown; stepsons Dwayne High and Bobby High, grandchildren, Ashton Myers (Tracy), Adam Myers (Crystal), Cassie Myers (Kyle Dobson), David “LilMan” Rigsbee Jr. and Jessica Rigsbee (Eric Clark), great grandchildren, Mikayla Crumbley, Caleb Myers, Kailee Myers, Aidan Myers, Raelynn Myers, Kyle Dobson, Jr., Rayven Rigsbee and Danny Clark, II; nieces, Stephanie Brown and Robin Tubbs (Ryan); nephews, Travis Basden (Pamela) and Michael Gregory (Vanessa) and numerous other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens in Raleigh, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Donnie Cash.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Ashton Myers, Adam Myers, David Rigsbee Jr., Travis Basden, Dave Brown, Kyle Dobson.

Flowers are acceptable.
