DURHAM Mr. Pervis “Leighton” Rook, 59, of Durham, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
Leighton was born on the Naval Base in Charleston S.C. He was also known as Rook’s Handyman Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served on the Security Team and as overseer of Rand Cottage. He volunteered at the Murdoch Developmental Center. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Riley Rook and his father, Robert Leon Rook.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Debbie Stallings Rook; his mother, Helen H. Rook; two sons, Justin Rook and wife, Brandee of Durham and Cameron Preston Leighton Rook; one daughter, Summer Rook; grandchildren, Grayson and Kinley Rook; sister, Candice Rook of Roxboro and half-brother, Raymond Rook.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Davis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Stallings, Phillip Fletcher, Mike Riley, Steve Riley, Lane Riley, Josh Riley, Mac Stone and Sam Calderone.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Norman and Saundra Stallings, 2515 Rolling Pines Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the children for music and education at http://www.youcaring.com/family-fundraiser/rook-children-music-and-education-fund/350539 (click link)
