Lela Marcella McDaniel

DURHAM Mrs. Lela Marcella McDaniel, 93, of Durham, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

Mrs. McDaniel was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert Reed McDaniel and Lula Jane Abbott McDaniel. She was a homemaker and a wonderful caregiver to many people. She was a former member of The Gospel Church and attended RTP Community Church. Marcella will be remembered as a loving Mom, “other Mom” and Aunt. She will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Owen Allen; brother, Mearil McDaniel and sister, Edna May Watkins.

She is survived by her son, Kelly Ray and wife, Patty; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Dr. Devon Blanton will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
