Lenora Ucko

DURHAM Lenora Ucko, PhD, 1921-2018, passed away at the age of 96, peacefully before dawn on Saturday, May 19th, 2018. Lenora, born in NYC, was twice married and is survived by three children, Lisa, Paul and David and two grandchildren, Connor and Ian. She was the widow of Rabbi Henry Ucko. Lenora graduated Hunter College in NYC and pursued a career before marriage and subsequently obtained her Ph.D. from OSU and enjoyed a career in academia. Lenora started and ran a therapeutic organization, Storieswork, which utilized selected folk stories to serve as a focal point for discussing personal traumatic experiences. She became an author in later life and wrote several books on life experiences, family and storytelling. In recent months she re-started her storytelling therapeutic process with the focus on aging. Lenora was a source of inspiration to all she met and easily shared the wisdom of her experiences with friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:30 PM at the Judea Reform Congregation Synagogue.
