Lillie Mae Bowen Clayton

DURHAM Mrs. Lillie Mae Bowen Clayton, 81, formerly of Durham, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Mrs. Clayton was a native of Durham, the daughter of the late Edgar and Thelma Oakley Bowen. She was previously employed with the American Tobacco Company and Murdoch Center in Butner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Clayton.

She is survived by her sons, Monty Clayton and John Clayton; daughters, Wanda Ambrose and Tonya Clayton; brother, Wayne Bowen; two sisters, Ruby Winston and Myrtle Strayhorn; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens. Rev. David Akers will officiate. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Cory Bowen, David Duron, Manny Morales, Sherman Spencer, Carlos Cruz and Danny Turner.
