CREEDMOOR Mrs. Lillie Mae Ferrell, 78, of Creedmoor, died Monday, July 27, 2015. She lived most of her life in Durham and has lived in Creedmoor for the last 10 years.
Mrs. Ferrell was born in Emporia, Virginia, the daughter of the late James Edward Moore and Louise Chambliss Moore. She retired from the Department of Social Services in 1999 with over 20 years of service, known by most as Miss Lillie. Lillie was an avid reader who loved talking to everyone, old B & W Classic movies and music. Most of all “Big Granny” adored her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known her. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Sue Green and sisters, Alease Reid and Jenny Whitfield.
Lillie is survived by her children, Lisa Rigsbee and husband, Rickey, David Ferrell and wife, Nancy, and Kelly Hancock and husband, Mike; brother, Joseph Moore and wife, Libby; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31st at 10 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30th from 6 to 8 pm at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of daughter; Kelly Hancock of Durham.
