Linda Diane Walton

WALTONDURHAM Linda Diane Walton, 57, passed away at Duke University Medical Center on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 after an extended illness. Diane was born in Durham, NC on September 1, 1953 and was a special education student in Durham County Public Schools. After graduation Diane enjoyed working at the Durham Exchange Club Industries where she made many friends.Diane was pre-deceased by her parents, Grovis Edward Walton and Dolly Beatrice Jacobs Walton, her brother, Michael Edward Walton, her uncle, Marvin Earl Jacobs, a beloved cousin, Marty Lynn Jacobs, as well as her maternal grandparents, William Lloyd Jacobs and Dolly Mae Bohannon Jacobs.Diane is survived by her devoted cousin, Kathy Jacobs of Durham, her aunt Ruby J. Dement, other cousins and special friends.Her family and friends cherished Diane and she will be missed. Her parents worked diligently with ARC of Durham to establish better educational opportunities for children with mental retardation.A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens with Reverend Johnny Godair officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to ARC of Durham County, 3500 Westgate Drive, Suite 303, Durham, NC 277707.
