Linda Goss Nifong

DURHAM Mrs. Linda Gail Goss Nifong, 66, a former resident of Durham, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Mrs. Nifong was born in Durham and had lived in Durham most of her life. She currently was living in Southport, NC. She retired from Duke University Medical Center after 35 years as a manager of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Department. After retiring she managed Better Beach Rentals in Oak Island. Linda was a classy and sassy lady and was always giving to others. She was a member of Sharon Acres Free Will Baptist Church for over 40 years. She will be remembered as a woman of service and will always be cherished by everyone blessed to have known her. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel “Buddy” Goss; sister, Lisa Smith and brother-in-law, James Daniel.She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ricky Nifong; son, Phillip Nifong and wife, Heather; daughter, Kimberly Mitchell; her mother, Delores Goss; two brothers, Sammy Goss and wife, Debbie and Billy Goss; one sister, Vickie Daniel; brother-in-law, Chuck Smith; grandchildren, Taylor and Brady Nifong, Joshua, Haylee and Ashleigh Mitchell;many loving family members and friends and two furry daughters, Precious and Candy.Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Fred Johnson will officiate. Burial will be Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kelly Whitehead, Josh Mitchell, John Hamilton, Billy Goss, Joey Goss and Eric O’Briant.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
