Linda Ray Pender

DURHAM- Linda Ray Pender, 70, of  Durham  died on Friday, March 6, 2015. She was the daughter of Horace Nathanial Ray and Lillie Briggs Ray.  She started her career in nursing as an LPN Nurse for twenty seven years, she changed careers and became a hairdresser and then was a  house wife before her declining health the last several years. She had a passion for her flowers, loved birds and  her dog Gidget. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and compassionate lady. She and her husband Robert were married January 21, 1966 in Durham.

She is survived by her husband, Robert  “Bobby” T. Pender, brother, Horace Ray and wife June  of  Durham; and sister Lillie Evelyn Mayse of  Durham; nieces, Joanna Ferrell, Angela Perdue and June Mayse, nephews, Robert Sherron, Greg Sherron and Robbie Johnson.   

Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Dr. C.J. Bordeaux, Sr. will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. The family request that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Duke Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 or charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Duke Hospice for the compassion and care they provided.
