Linnie Lewis Oakley, Sr.

DURHAM Mr. Linnie Lewis Oakley, Sr., 79, of Durham, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Oakley was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late W. J. Oakley and Laura Upchurch Oakley. He worked for G.E. for 15 years as a Welder and retired from Troxler Electronics. Linnie attended Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William D. Oakley and Franklin G. Oakley.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Perry Oakley; son, Linnie Oakley, Jr. and wife, Angi; three daughters, Susan Lohmueller and husband, Kurt, Karen Smith and husband, Bill and Sherri Watson and husband, Joe; sister, Barbara Oakley Hildebran and husband, Billy Joe; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tommy Talton will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
