Lucille Hall Fowler, 89, passed away on January 28, 2024, with her children by her side. She was the daughter of the late James Martin Hall and Mary Elizabeth Hough Hall. She was born on May 27, 1934 in Durham. She attended Durham High School and went to work at Liggett Myers Tobacco Company when 18 years old. There she met and married Edward Earl "Newt" Fowler at the age of 19. They had two children and lived In the Oak Grove community their entire lives. He preceded her in death after 38 years of marriage, passing away in 1991. She worked at Liggett Myers until her retirement in 1989. She is survived by her son, Robert "Wayne" Fowler of the home, her daughter, Linda Peed and husband Tony of Rougemont, one granddaughter Tracey Peed and one great grandson, Bennett Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Mary Elizabeth Talton Van Buskirk and Lois Terry, five brothers, James Hall, Clyde Hall, Grover Hall, Hunter Hall, Jack Hall & one special nephew, Jimmy Hall, and her little dog she loved so much, Jake.
She was afflicted with severe osteoporosis leading to an array of broken bones over the years. She also had crippling osteoarthritis causing constant pain and inability to be mobile. She also developed totally debilitating Dementia over the past year.
We praise you God, for her life and for you calling her home. The pain, confusion and tears are over.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Road, Durham.
Officiating will be Reverend Craig Willingham.
Flowers are acceptable.
