Lucille Alene Burch Greenhill

Mrs. Lucille Alene Burch Greenhill, 89, passed away July 9, 2023.

Lucy was born May 19, 1934, in Durham, NC to the late John Burch and Bertha Meadows Burch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Benny Greenhill; sisters, Ida Watson, Ruby James, and Pauline Bland; and brother, John Burch.

Lucy worked for Liggett Myers for 14 years, then as a Technical Librarian for CCB where she retired. She was a former member of Alston Avenue Baptist Church in Durham. She attended Good Hope Church and was a member of Dorchas Sunday School Class. Lucy, along with her husband Benny, loved Bluegrass music. She enjoyed listening to her husband play with his Bluegrass band, as well as traveling with him to festivals and shows. Lucy was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Greenhill is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Greenhill and husband, Deok Hoon Kang of S. Korea and Ida Frances Scull and husband, Mike of Rougemont; grandchildren, Shannon Leigh Garrard of Asheville, and Raven Ganey of Lenoir; nephew, John Webb and wife, Vivian; and other loving family members and friends.  

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home with a Funeral Service following at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
