Mable Briggs Morris

DURHAM- Mable Briggs Morris, 105, of Durham died on Friday, November 1, 2013. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Dewey Briggs and Cora Holder Briggs. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie J. Morris, Sr., one son, Jessie J. Morris, Jr., two brothers, Dewey Briggs and Herod Briggs, three sisters, Pearl B. Cooke, Margaret B. Ferguson and Virginia B. Carden, one nephew, Dewey “Skip” Ferguson.

She is survived by her nieces, Hilda Riggs, Linda Hatfield, husband Adrian, daughter Amanda Hatfield Moore, husband Justin, and son, Robert Hatfield, Karen Hagwood, husband Mark, sons, Caleb, Jackson and Connor.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12:00 noon at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Due to parking limitations a private burial will be in Morris Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Hagwood, Caleb Hagwood, Jackson Hagwood, Connor Hagwood, Adrian Hatfield and Robert Hatfield. Honorary pallbearer, Jimmy Hall.
