Durham, NC – Monday September 30th, 2019 Manuel “Manny” Felipe Reyes age 77 passed away with his loving wife and sister by his side.
He was born August 9th 1942 in Jaruco, Cuba to Felipe and Carmen Reyes.
Manny and his wife have been residents of Durham, NC for the last 12 years. He was a lifelong Loss Prevention expert who spent many years in the field by either teaching or acting as an Officer of the State of Corrections in Hudson County NJ. Manny will be remembered fondly for his larger than life colorful personality. He was as bold as he was passionate. Manny was known more for his sense of humor and passion for life than his political correctness. He loved being with his family and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, firearms, reloading his own ammunition and enjoyed the company of his dogs Samson & Delilah. He was a wonderful neighbor always willing to lend a helping hand. He was political refugee who was grateful every day for being given opportunities in the greatest country in the world. A proud patriot.
Manny is survived by his loving wife, Lucia Reyes, his sister Dalia Reyes, his children Juan Manuel Reyes, Carmen Reyes and Eric Reyes, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Harvest Glen Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Hedges. Refreshments will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
