Margaret “Maggie” Jane McCowan

Durham- Margaret “Maggie” McCowan, 24, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020. Born in Chapel Hill, NC, the daughter of Mark McCowan and Lisa McCowan. Maggie was preceded in death by her grandfather, David McCowan.

In addition to her parents, Maggie is survived by her sister Bella McCowan, grandmother Martha McCowan, and Uncle Timmy McCowan (Barbie) all of Durham; Cousins Savannah McCowan of Tucson, Az, Amber Smith (Jordan) of Knightdale; and Cody Smith (Gabriela) of Chapel Hill.

Maggie worked at Duke Regional Hospital on Unit 5-1. She loved her co-workers and patients as much as they loved her.

Maggie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, granddaughter and everyone’s best friend. To know Maggie was to love her contagious smile and laughter. She was a loving person with a very big heart!

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Hudson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Tim Wheeler. Burial to follow at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Erick Pendergrass, Holton Ahlers, Cody Smith, Dean McFarland, Dylan McFarland, and Aris Dixon.

Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
