HILLSBOROUGH Mrs. Margie Lee Thornburg, 85, of 1617 Riverside Drive, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Mrs. Thornburg was born in Brunswick County to the late James Penny Hewett and Lonah Hettie Hewett. She was a member of the New Hope Church of God of Prophecy and member of the Gospel Light Choir Group. Margie loved her family and always made friends feel like they were family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who with her open arms and heart touched the lives of many people through inspiring acts of kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Lester Thornburg, Sr., Robert Leo Hewett, Allen Lester Thornburg, Jr., Deanna Marie Jackson, Nyoka Mantill Thornburg and daughter-in-law, Pamela Hope Thornburg.
She is survived by her daughters, Daisy Mae Lewis and husband, Goley Glenn and Teresa Smith; son, Lewin Thornburg; brother, Ethridge Hewett and wife, Carolyn; sister, Joyce Eleanor Perry and numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30th at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, followed by a service at 11a.m. Also the family will receive friends on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the home, 1617 Riverside Drive in Hillsborough.
