Marilyn Trotter

Marilyn June Trotter, 79, died Saturday at Duke Medical Center. Marilyn was born June 5, 1933 in Jefferson, Ohio. The daughter of Carlton C. Wilson and Marietta Fox Wilson, she was predeceased by both parents and brother, Carlton C. Wilson III. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1950, where she served as yearbook editor. Marilyn loved to read and write – especially epic letters to friends and family. She was a dedicated mom who never missed a baseball game, track meet, band concert, or theatre performance. Her family has fond memories of vacations at Devils Lake, Houghton Lake, Mackinac Island, Put-in-Bay, Lake Huron, Ocean Isle and Holden Beach. Marilyn also enjoyed raising her family amongst good friends – the pink flamingo crowd on Crary Dr. in Toledo — bridge games, bonfires and Bowman pool. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert L. Trotter of Durham; her children, Steven Louis Trotter and his wife Priscilla Trotter of Durham, daughter Julie Kay Trotter and Janis Matson of Pittsboro; daughter Jennifer Trotter Kiev and her husband Josh Kiev of Nashville, TN, daughter Laura Anne Trotter and her partner Toni Roberts of Costa Mesa, CA; her grandchildren, Steven Louis Trotter, Jr., Maxim Wyatt Trotter and Maya June Kiev. In addition, she is survived by her brothers, Robert F. (Marilynn) Wilson of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, William Thomas (Penny) Wilson and James Dennis Wilson, all of Toledo, Ohio. The family will receive friends and family members at Hudson Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:00 prior to the service held at 2:00. Rev. Rick Edens will officiate.
