DURHAM- Mrs. Martha Percy Boatright-passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 after several years of declining health. She was born August 14, 1927 in Hendersonville, N.C. to the late Daisy S. and Victor Percy, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sister Alyce Green and brothers Willard Percy and Victor Percy, Jr. Martha lived in Durham since 1939, graduating from Durham High School in 1946 and Durham Tech in 1971. She retired after 34 years from the American Tobacco Company as a Research Inspector. After retirement she did volunteer work at Lenox Baker Children’s Hospital.She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and The Martha Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cooking, needle work, sewing and cake decorating, having made wedding dresses for her daughters and oldest granddaughter. She also made wedding cakes for her three children, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She is survived by her husband of sixty six years, Thomas (TJ) Boatright, three children, Sandra Davis (Bill) of Mocksville; Dan Boatright (Pam) of Carterville, IL; and Janet Wheeler (Russell) of Efland; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, also surviving are three sisters, Olive Hilliard, Eleanor Rigsbee and Donna Percy, two brothers, Ralph Percy and Jerry Percy. The family would like to thank neighbors Bob and Ann Bailey, and Ron and Sally Duffy for their help over the years. Also special thanks to Tommy’s Caregivers, Shirley Sneed, Margaret Curtis and Gwen Alston.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hugh O’Shields and Rev. Earl Echols will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
