Martha Walden Humphrey

DURHAM Martha Walden Humphrey, 71, of Durham, died on Sunday, December 20, 2015.
Mrs. Humphrey was born in Nash County, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Henry Eli Walden, Jr. She was a retired elementary school teacher with the Lumberton City Schools. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lumberton and a former member of Saddletree Baptist Church in Lumberton, where she played piano and taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ray Humphrey, and a brother, Henry Eli Walden, III.
She is survived by her four stepchildren, Steve Humphrey, Jimmy Ray Humphrey, Cindy Morningstar and Karen Turman; brother, Archie Bailey Walden of Garner; sister, Trudy Walden Clay of Bremen, Ga. and many step-grandchildren.
