Marvin Brooks Watson

Marvin “Brooks” Watson, Jr., 76, passed away June 9, 2023.

Mr. Watson was born on December 19, 1946, in Durham, N.C. to the late Marvin Brooks Watson, Sr. and Elvira Garrard Watson.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances Ennis Watson; son, Michael E. Watson and wife Natalie of Durham; daughter, Stacy W. Harris and husband Jeremy also of Durham, N.C.; brother, Michael C. Watson of Mebane, N.C.; and grandchildren, Grayden and Gavin Harris.

Brooks will be remembered as a hard-working man. He worked for more than 35 years at the City of Durham Water Department. He lived in Durham all his life, mostly in the Bethesda community where he served as a firefighter with the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty years. After retirement, Brooks was a member of the “Citizens on Patrol” for many years. He loved working and spending time with his family and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mitchell Family Cemetery across from the Bethesda Baptist Church at 1914 S. Miami Blvd.

Flowers are acceptable.
