Mary C. Hargis

DURHAM- Mary Lois Chappell Hargis, 95, died on Monday, February 23, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Manly Chappell and Julia Carden Chappell. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sisters, Inez Sherron, Mabel Rigsbee and Amanda Burch, brothers, Manly Chappell and Charlie Chappell.
She is survived by her son Wayne Duke and wife Linda, granddaughter, Donna Sue Halat and husband Tim. Great grandchildren: Gracy and Hope Halat who were the light of her life, sister-in-law, Ethel Chappell, and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her niece Ruth Breeden who made Tuesdays special each week, and niece Judy Baucom and nephew Danny Burch for their faithful visits.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jeff McCarthy will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
