Mary Frances Fletcher

June 18, 1937 — March 30, 2022

Mrs. Mary Frances Fletcher, 84, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022 at home with family by her side, as she stepped into the arms of her Savior.

Mary Frances was born June 18, 1937 in Johnston County, NC, a daughter of the late Charlie V. and Lillie Bullock Langdon.  Mrs. Fletcher retired in 1992 after 33 years from Golden Belt Manufacturing Company in Durham, NC where she was a Shipping Supervisor.

Mrs. Fletcher was a Christian and devoted member of Fletcher’s Chapel UMC for over 40 years.  She and her late husband, Gene, were also members of the churches “Young at Heart” Club.  Mary Frances also worked with the women’s ministry, where she enjoyed quilting and preparing food for families in need, and a host of other activities.  She was a very sweet and loving person.  If you had a problem or a need that she could help you with, she would not hesitate.  She would help anyone at any time if at all possible.  She always looked for the good in people.

Mary Frances loved her family and friends.  She enjoyed cooking for family and church gatherings.  She and her late husband, Gene enjoyed square dancing together with other friends and family members.  She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and cross stitching.  She loved gardening, growing, canning & freezing her own fruits and vegetables, and growing flowers.  She enjoyed the hummingbirds, rabbits, deer, squirrels and wild turkeys that would visit her home and gardens quite frequently.

When at the beach, she enjoyed flounder gigging, fishing and just hanging out with friends.  Mary Frances will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and step-mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Eugene Fletcher and step-son Gary Fletcher; brothers, Charles, Tom, Lloyd, and Bruce Langdon.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her daughters, Teresa Jones, Lynne Williams; son, Ed Finch (Rhonda); step-daughter, Sheila Fletcher; brothers, Roscoe Langdon (Linda) and Bobby Langdon (Elaine); sisters, Peggy Williams and Christine Byrd; grandchildren, Tim Nichols (Shannon), Jacinda Moody (James) and Justin Finch; step-grandson, Justin Fletcher (Jenn); great-grandchildren, Chyanne, Joshua, and Brent Nichols, Alexis, Ava and Paxton Moody, and Meghan and Ella Fletcher; as well as other family members which include many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, and friends.
